Congratulations! Our job is to teach all to understand your horse for the session. Horses are properly chosen for your size, age, experience and ability. All instructors regardless of their age, size and experience have experienced the same training during their learning.

Our goal is to keep the horses happy, people safe, all to have a fun and a learning experience.

1. Haltering...Once you pick out your special natural horse halter and rope, both you and helper go to the horse and properly approach and catch horse. Learn how to adjust equipment so horse is happy to see that his human has his best interest.

2. Lead...horse to cross ties, fasten with snaps face up on one string of halter.

3. Learn... what grooming tools to choose. Round curry combs used in a circular motion is a way of massaging and cleaning the horse. It stirs up all dirt and hair so you can use a stiff brush to clean off. If this is not done horses can get itchy when sweating and lay down and roll with you on board!

Cleaning... the hooves by lifting a chestnut would be the final step in grooming. Least amount of effort to teach the horse quietness and respect is the goal.

4. Equipment...saddle blanket, saddle, girth all done in proper alinement with the comfort of the horse and security of the human.

5. Lead...to the arena and find a carrot stick and string to use.

GAMES...

ground work before mounting

Friendly, Porcupine, Yo Yo, Driving and Circle are communicating routines to do before checking girth and mount correctly.

You will be shown correct ways to communicate with horse. Most people think that you kick to go, pull to stop. That is not exactly correct. You will learn lateral turning and how to maneuver the horse without access effort or dulling them out. Even a small child can do a one hand emergency stop!

We have an indoor facility to start. Once all is secure we venture to the outdoors. The trails are in Pennsylvania so expect hills and valleys, creeks and thorns. The ride has been ridden by many Girl Scouts and old ladies but you must be able to take direction and hang on.

No double riding. Anyone not in control are put on a buddy line.

We have been teaching at Victory since 2002. 1000's have had pleasurable and wonderful memories.

Many people have continued as students.

Our clients lease horses, buy them, go on to be a professional and even go out and start a farm! Many stay with us and become volunteers, instructors or just board their horses. Thank you for choosing Victory Bible Chapel and Stables! May God bless you and always pray that we honor Him in all we do!
